Ours is an ocean planet: Saltwater covers more than two-thirds of Earth’s surface. The oceans have a huge influence on Earth’s workings, and, not least, on its climate.

I spoke recently with Alan Trujillo, co-author, with Harold Thurman, of ESSENTIALS OF OCEANOGRAPHY, published by Prentice Hall.
